1. How PokéRandomizer Works

PokéRandomizer is an in-browser reference utility and randomization suite covering all 9 official Pokémon generations (#0001 Bulbasaur through #1025 Pecharunt), including Megas, Regional variants, Gigantamax, and Paradox forms.

⚡ In-Memory Architecture:All generator calculations and randomizations are performed directly on your local device. The application does not require a database connection or server session, ensuring instant response times (<16ms) without network latency.

2. Random Generator Guide

The homepage generator provides full control over your candidate pool:

  • Count Selector: Pick between 1 and 12 simultaneous Pokémon cards. Selecting 1 is optimal for single-encounter Nuzlocke checks; selecting 6 creates a standard team.
  • Generation Presets: Filter specific generations using checkboxes or quick presets: Classic 151 (Gen 1), Modern (Gen 8–9), or All Generations (Gen 1–9).
  • Dual-Type Filters: Select a primary type and an optional secondary type. Choosing "None" restricts the pool strictly to pure, single-typed Pokémon.
  • Form & Rarity Toggles: Include or exclude Megas, Gigantamax forms, Regional variants (Alolan, Galarian, Hisuian, Paldean), and Paradox Pokémon.
  • Shiny Modes:
    • Realistic (1/4,096): Matches the authentic mainline Pokémon shiny odds with golden particle celebration upon a hit.
    • Always: Guarantees every generated card is Shiny with official alternate palettes.
    • Never: Restricts all cards to standard coloration.
  • "Who's That Pokémon?" Silhouette Mode: Obscures cards into mystery silhouettes. Click on any card or the mystery banner to reveal the identity!

3. Interactive Wheel Spinner & Drafts

The Wheel Spinner simulates a physical carnival-style prize wheel rendered on HTML5 Canvas:

🎯 Slice Customizer:Adjust the number of visible slices between 4 and 20 candidates. You can restrict the wheel pool by generation or elemental type.
🏆 Elimination Mode:When "Eliminate Landed Pokémon" is checked, the winning Pokémon is automatically removed from the wheel so it cannot be selected again during draft tournaments.

4. Team Builder & Pokémon Showdown Export

The Team Builder crafts a balanced 6-Pokémon roster and evaluates its competitive viability:

  • Slot Rerolling: Don't like one team member? Click Reroll Slot to swap out just that member without losing the rest of your team.
  • Synergy & Weakness Matrix: Automatically tallies team defensive matchups across all 18 elemental types. If 3 or more members are vulnerable to a single type (e.g. Ground or Fairy), an alert banner flags the shared weakness.
  • 1-Click Showdown Export: Click Export Showdown Team to copy formatted team text to your clipboard. Paste it directly into the "Import from text" box in Pokémon Showdown's teambuilder.

5. Audio & Display Troubleshooting

Why don't I hear sound effects or Pokémon cries?

Modern web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) block audio until the user interacts with the page (click or tap). Make sure:

  1. The header sound button displays 🔊 Sound ON (click it to toggle).
  2. Your device or browser tab is not muted.
  3. You have clicked somewhere on the page to authorize audio playback.

Why did an image fail to load?

Pokémon imagery is sourced from high-availability community CDNs (PokeAPI and Pokémon Showdown). If an ad-blocker or strict firewall restricts access to raw GitHub user content, sprites may fall back to default placeholders. Ensure raw.githubusercontent.com and play.pokemonshowdown.com are accessible on your network.

Are my generated teams saved if I refresh?

To maintain lightweight speed, generated teams are not stored permanently. Your sound preference and dark/light theme setting are saved in your browser's local storage. If you create a team you love, be sure to use Export Showdown Team to copy it before closing the page!
